Laban’s Favorite Simple Old Fashioned Granola

Simple Old Fashioned Granola can granola get better than that?

As the name of the recipe says, this is my brother Laban’s favorite granola. He eats it almost every morning for breakfast before school, and every time he’s almost out he reminds me I need to make more.

This is a Granola recipe is one that over the years I have customized to be a family favorite and it’s really easy to add or replace ingredients. So don’t be afraid to make it the way you like it.

Simply Homemade Granola

You can add so many things to make it the way you like it or even take things out that you don’t like (I’m not a big fan of coconut so if I’m making it for me I eliminate that) some things that I have added in are:

Mini Chocolate chips (before baking or after cooling)

Raisins or Craisins

Any variety of nuts

Any seeds or grains you want

And honestly so much more!

My brother just loves eating as a cereal, while I like it as an Acai topping or a Yogurt parfait!

Laban’s Favorite Simple Old Fashioned Granola

Simple granola that is perfect for cereal, yogurt parfaits, and acai bowls.

Total Time 1 hour 10 minutes

Servings 10 cups

Ingredients
  

"Dry" Ingredients

  • Cups Oats
  • Cup Shredded Coconut (Unsweetened)
  • Cup Sunflower Seeds (Raw)
  • Cup Sliced Almonds (Raw)
  • Cup Chopped Pecans
  • 2 Tbsp Wheat Bran (Optional)
  • 2 Tbsp Ground Flax Seeds (Optional)
  • 2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds (Optional)

"Wet" Ingredients

  • Cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ Cup Butter
  • ¼ Cup Oil
  • ¼ Cup Peanut Butter
  • ¼ Cup Honey
  • 3 Tsp Water
  • Tsp Salt
  • 2 Tsp Vanilla

Instructions
 

  • Mix Dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Heat remaining ingredients except Vanilla in a sauce pan until well combined, remove from heat and add the Vanilla. Pour wet mixture over dry ingredients and mix together well. Spread evenly on 2-3 baking sheets and Bake at 350° about 20-25 minutes or until done, stirring frequently.
    Cool and Enjoy!
