The Best Orange Poppy Seed Muffins

Today we have Orange Poppyseed Muffins, They are a slight twist on the classic Lemon Poppyseed. They are defiantly worth a try, in other words, you won’t regret it.

These muffins are the first original recipe I ever created. As a result, these muffins are what inspired me to keep creating my own original recipes. Baking and creating something on my own is like therapy for me.

Orange Poppyseed Muffins

The glaze is totally optional but however I recommend adding it. It adds so much good flavor.

The Best Orange Poppy Seed Muffins

A twist on the Traditional Lemon Poppyseed

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbps Poppyseeds
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • ¾ cup White Sugar
  • cup Butter (melted)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • cup Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • Zest from 1 Orange


  • Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
  • Powdered Sugar (sifted)



  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 12 count muffin pan with paper liners or grease well, and set aside. In a medium-size bowl mix together dry ingredients and set aside, in another bowl whisk together sugar and melted butter until well combined, add one egg at a time mixing well after each one, add sour cream, juice, and zest mix until well combined. Then pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, mixing only until the flour is incorporated. Divide batter between 12 muffin pan already prepared and bake for 20-22 minutes or till a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from pan and let cool before glazing. Enjoy
